The Trend Towards Convergence

The global trend towards convergence of security and building management systems is being driven by a number of factors. Until recently, these systems were treated as completely separate entities with no physical or logical connection between them - making event management and investigation difficult and inefficient. Today, there is a growing market demand for systems that enable the management of security and facility requirements from a single department and a single interface - as well as the monitoring and control of multiple remote sites, of which can be achieved through convergence with the additional benefit of reduction in costs of personnel and energy.

Enabling Technologies

IP (Internet Protocol) technology has revolutionized communications around the globe, and has become the de-facto standard for network communications. In addition, the adoption of open (non-proprietary) standards has simplified the integration of components within and between systems and has made vendor independence a reality. UPnP (Universal Plug & Play, www.upnp.org) is expected to become the open standard communication protocol of choice, enabling connectivity between PCs and devices from different vendors over IP networks - and allowing control of devices anywhere within buildings or at multiple remote sites. Backed by major players including Intel, MS, HP, Siemens and Echelon, UPnP is already included as standard in many of the newest products being sold by security industry leaders. Together, these technology trends have set the stage for the simplified convergence of security and building management systems.

SynopSYS™ – Providing Comprehensive, Integrated
Site Management

RISCO Group’s SynopSYS is a remarkable security and building management system that seamlessly integrates security, fire detection, video monitoring, access control, HVAC and other building automation systems into a single, easy-to-use system. Based on open architecture, the advanced, UPnP-compliant system assures complete vendor interoperability. Providing simplified integration and control of any UPnP-compliant device - as well as existing legacy devices - SynopSYS reduces integration time and costs, and preserves the value of previous IT investments.

Advanced Communications

Communicating over TCP/IP networks, SynopSYS enables full utilization of existing network infrastructures, while assuring the highest level of IP security through use of the latest technologies, including sophisticated encryption. Advanced networking capabilities ensure complete and efficient control over single and multi-site facilities, via LAN or WAN, enabling effective surveillance and rapid response to events.

Flexibility and Ease-of-Use

The system’s outstanding flexibility offers unlimited options in the design and implementation of customized projects. Providing a simple layout and workflow with intuitive interfaces and graphics, SynopSYS is quickly understood and employed by operators. The entire protected area of every project, whether one building or multiple remote sites, is monitored and controlled from the system’s single, user-friendly interface.

Unlimited Applications

SynopSYS is the ideal solution for commercial and public buildings, complexes and distributed organizations. It is fast becoming the system of choice for financial institutions, office buildings, museums, exhibition halls, retail chains, shopping malls, university campuses, industrial and production facilities, and government sites around the world.
